Gee Baby, Ain't I Good to You > Chords

Hi Folks, this week we are starting on a new tune, "Gee Baby Ain't I good to you." The lesson will be on the chords and I demonstrate the A sections bridge and the extended tag ending in 4/4 rhythm. I also have a video of me playing the chords with Brad and also playing along with us where I do the chord melody and solo to demonstrate what you will be learning.

Enjoy, this will be a fun one! Duke

Hi Lizalu, Great job singing and playing! Nice voice also, thanks for sending it. I am surprised you are doing it in G. That's the key I sing it in!

Thanks mike, for your kind words. Phrasing is everything. i remember listening to a record of Fred Astaire, playing with some jazz greats, after his movie life.... Not a great singer, but an amazing sense of placement and storytelling...

Hi Lizalu --- WOW!!  You have a beautiful voice --- but even better is how you shape and phrase the vocals.  Thanks for posting, made my day.

Hey duke, I'm still out here listening and working on stuff. just to prove it here I am playing your chords to Gee Baby. Playing this stuff is not new, nor is the singing, but the lead work is where I need to be. That's next. Thanks, and thanks again for teaching this invisible audience.... we hear you. Lizalu

Hi James, It would be interesting to hear it on a resonator guitar. Duke

Hi Tom, G is an unusual key but when I sing it it's my vocal key so that's why it's in G. Mickey Freeman sang it on my Wobble Walkin' album and she sang it in Ab. that's a different key for it! Duke

Wow , never say never .  Been playing this song for years , usually in key of C , sometimes in Bb , but never key of G . Thank you Duke . Keep me on my toes . Never too old to try anything new .   Thanks .

Hi Duke ... love the tune and your arrangement.  Now that I've learned a couple tunes like this, those chords are coming easier to me which is really exciting.

The chord melody you do with Brad at the beginning is absolutely fantastic.  I'm really excited for the next lesson!!  In the mean time, I'll get the chords flowing naturally.  It will take me a bit on that C#dim7.  Thanks!
