Hey Duke. I’ve listened to you for a long while. Roomful, Thunderbirds, and Dylan. I’ve just been on sonic junction a couple of months. I love your laid back teaching style and the materials you teach and insights you provide. You are a treasure. I’m a retired teacher who just started getting serious about guitar again. I love blues, period. Ive been playing since 16, but never really got it. I’ve looked around and decided I don’t want to be a pristine shredder, but wanted to play emotionally with a few notes. Jimmie Vaughan, Gatemouth Brown and the guitarists for Little Walter and Muddy always excited me. Raw, emotional and concise. That is how you teach and play. I’ll get along now. I hope there are no grammatical mistakes in here. My fellow teachers will light me up.
I love what you are doing. And have immersed myself into Jimmie Reed, Eddie Taylor and Fenton Robinson because of you. God bless you and play on!
Hi Brian, Thank you! I am glad that my teaching style works for you. I have always preferred melody, emotion and taste over chops. Its not the norm but it makes me happy when people find these elements important. I guess I'm trying to change the world. One guitarist at a time! LOL!
Hi Mike D, I would ask around locally for a good teacher. It always helps when starting to have someone who can work directly with you. That's my best advice. Thanks, Duke
Yes Steve, That is the original version with Fenton Robinson on guitar. Duke
Hi Mike, Thank you! I am happy that it is helping you. Please help us spread the word! Thanks, Duke
Mike, have you checked out Truefire? Just like here, a monthly fee gives you access to everything on the website and every course includes pdfs of tab and jam tracks. The combination of that website and this one has improved my playing immensely and they have lots of courses for beginners and intermediate players.
Thanks Duke,
Here's one I found on YT.
Is this the Fenton Robinson version?
Duke,
You are way ahead of me. I'm 58 and just getting back into guitar. I had a year of lessons back in high school. What is the best method for me to learn the guitar again? Any online teachers or programs that you can recommend that will get me up to speed as fast as possible? I don't want to be a concert guitarist. I just want to play country and blues.
Thanks,
Mike
