Thanks for your answer Corey. "Singing with feeling in my confortable zone" speaks more to me that to feel somebody else feeling !

When i improvised a guitar chorus i don't think emotion like, anger, fun or love i just try to be "one" and let the music go out. Because if you think of a particulary emotion you're not focus on your playing. I guess it's the same for the voice ! Singing teachers are often about dramatic emotion and about playin a role like in theatre. But what you says help more : i don't have to try to feel like old bluesman because i can't. I haven't the same life. I just have to be me and play what i feel using this old song that speaks to me.

I wanted to play country blues for a long time but it seemed very intricated and the sound was hard to listen. So i've never work this style until last year when i decided to get my ears and fingers in it and play that style. And now adding the voice, i feel really great and happy. A new journey beggin :)

@Alex great stuff !! you've made a nice version !!

Hello Corey, that's was the lesson i wanted with singing tips ! I'm workin on it !

You're right, even if i have a stella voice i'll try to do the best in my confort zone just express something. It give me confidence. Your lesson are really great Corey :) I sing Running and hidding in C with a capo, the guitar is not as good as E but the voice is better...

i'll post a video soon :)

Haha, that's was Corey ! You're lucky he played your guitar :)!! Now you know how your guitar sounds at it best  !! i missed corey in Paris in 2012 :( but next time i'll bring my guitar just in case ;)

@Alex, nice story ! Who was the bluesman ?

I think also that all is in the finger but good gear help too. I finally have my dream guitar (my gibson l-50 because L-4 are too axpensive !) and finally i have the sound i wanted for years !! My epiphone emperor doesn't sound as good ! although taj Mahal play the same very well ;) !

I think that 80% in the finger and 20% in the gear. I'm teaching electric guitar and have a cheap fender squier from China (200dollars) that i let in my classroom. Some of my students have real US fender or gibson (about 1200 dollars) but in a beginner hand their guitar sound worst than mine. They feel "upset" but understand that gear is not all.

@Damian, for this range you have a lot of choice : vintage, new, brand... I think recording king make good guitar for cheap price. I have only a vintage paror but my next folk would be a

Because i like wide neck, the OOO form with less bass than a dreadnough, rosewood warmer than mahogany and cheap price because i can't afford a 00-28 martin that i love ! One of my student got one and she's cool for blues !!

Best

@Corey Thanks for you feedback and compliment :) At least it's still a question of tempo, like That happen no more. I'll work on that ! The solo is a real mix with all your stuff, i'm glad you like it !

@Bruno Thanks you for compliment and encouragement :)

@Corey thanks for your feedback and compliment ! In fact i always play too fast most of all when i try to sing. I thinks some parts sound rushed because i have to remember all the parts of the songs when playing ! It's a long song.

This hollidays i'll try to play all my songs slowly to get evrything clean !

I've already work the song with a metronome at 160 bpm but without the metronome, i'll increase to 180 bpm. The songs sound quickly but it's not so fast in fact. I have to memorise the good speed !

@Alex thanks for the compliment ! it's a great emulation to have all this good players here following Corey's lesson ! The bass sound good but it's from my guitar ;) It's a old l-50 Gibson with a small body (16inches) and warm nickel string (from newtone). So the sound is very warm and woody. My other guitar don't have this sound. I'll try to record with the other soon. My only folk is a harmony but i have to remplace the frets...

Hi Corey, that my last video before hollidays ! It's not as good as running and hiding that i recorded 2 days ago (hope you could see it) but i won't be able to record this holliday 'cause i won't have my microphones.

This version is from youtube but the sound is not as good as when recorded on sonicjunction :(

I think i 've still got big problem to keep the tempo ! I've other problem for sure like singing but, accelerate the tempo is a bad thing i think...

This holliday i try to work with 3 fingers because picking with two fingers is very hard. Some peoples says that Blind Blake only play with 2 fingers (thumb and index) but after seeing you and a friend of mine i think 3 fingers is better !!

Thanks for your feedback Corey !

Bless

Hello Corey ! I wanted to post a version of this one before the last Blin Blake lesson ! I'm still nervous, and get lake of air for my breathin and speed up the tempo ! I got to be more cool and laid back i think :)

Posting for you is a real good experience !

Please Corey, i have a question : i'm more confortable in the Key of A (as you seen it's in my high range) so what do you do in that case ?

Do you put a capo and play the same thing although in sound no that good with a capo on fifth fret ?

Or do you play it like a real  blues in the key of A (like everybody ought to change for exemple) and change the fingering ? I think it's this case the song have not the same feeling ?

Thanks for you help Corey !

Greetings

Hello Corey, Nice lesson !!

There's many informations in this song ! I try to post a whole version soon. I'm It taking time to learn the whole song and post it, i hope that's a good way to work. It's like preparing a song for a concert ;)

I could post babysteps but my installation is not easy to install so i do like that for the moment.

I have also problem with singin and english prononciation (i'm french) but i like too work in this way. I've even try the song a whole step down for my voice and in Bb like blind blake...

Hope i'll post this week !

best

Wow thanks for the comploment Corey. I make a shorter version for the video because i didn't want it too long. i'll try to finsih the minor part later.

Your right for the diminushed chord. It's easier to play it without the thumb behind the neck. Maybe i should use a classical fingering for the F and the F#°, it would be cleaner. I wanted to play it with the thumb over the neck but that's not clean.

I was a pretty hard to myself cause i make a lot of takes for this result. That's was the first time i've recorded this song so i tried to be the most critical as possible. But i'm very happy with my version and play the song everyday :)

Posting a public video (who will be watch by you Corey) makes me more demanding with my work ;) But it force me to play better :) !

Thanks a lot

I coudn't imagine being so nervous to record and send you my video ! I make ten attempt i think ! I've haven't work the minor part, it's mostly improvised I like her less and don't play it when i play the tune usually (i know it's bad to do that). I think the big thing is we don't liten clearly to the afterbeat (2 and 4) and there's too much bass on the one...

The other thing is i think i play it too fast for my level...

That's all thanks for listening :)

cheers

Hello Corey,

I'm also interrest in singing focus but most of all i'd like a lesson on Sittin Top Of the world in open G that you made with Otha Turner ! I love it when i saw it in the movie ! I know you can play lot of song with this melody (it hurts me too, you got to move) but this arrangement of Sittin on top of the world was great !

Greetings
