Walkdown

Corey Harris Lesson >

That Will Never Happen No More > Walkdown

In this week's lesson we will deal with the walkdown of the tune that will bring us out of the intro and into the first section. I discuss the difference between the D chord and the D7 chord and where I use them in the song. Pay close attention to the use of the palm when you are singing the tune so that your voice is not competing with the guitar. I know that there is a lot going on with this tune so please contact me if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you!

@Corey thanks for your feedback and compliment ! In fact i always play too fast most of all when i try to sing. I thinks some parts sound rushed because i have to remember all the parts of the songs when playing ! It's a long song.

This hollidays i'll try to play all my songs slowly to get evrything clean !

I've already work the song with a metronome at 160 bpm but without the metronome, i'll increase to 180 bpm. The songs sound quickly but it's not so fast in fact. I have to memorise the good speed !

@Alex thanks for the compliment ! it's a great emulation to have all this good players here following Corey's lesson ! The bass sound good but it's from my guitar ;) It's a old l-50 Gibson with a small body (16inches) and warm nickel string (from newtone). So the sound is very warm and woody. My other guitar don't have this sound. I'll try to record with the other soon. My only folk is a harmony but i have to remplace the frets...

@JD...yes the guitar playing sounds really good.  Some of the parts you play sound a little rushed so try just playing everything real slow for a few days to get deeper into what is going on.  Then bring the tempo up when you feel comfortable.  Don't worry about singing right now.  Your rhythm is good though.  You might want to practive with a metronome to keep from playing too fast.  Keep playing...good job.

Hi Corey, that my last video before hollidays ! It's not as good as running and hiding that i recorded 2 days ago (hope you could see it) but i won't be able to record this holliday 'cause i won't have my microphones.

This version is from youtube but the sound is not as good as when recorded on sonicjunction :(

I think i 've still got big problem to keep the tempo ! I've other problem for sure like singing but, accelerate the tempo is a bad thing i think...

This holliday i try to work with 3 fingers because picking with two fingers is very hard. Some peoples says that Blind Blake only play with 2 fingers (thumb and index) but after seeing you and a friend of mine i think 3 fingers is better !!

Thanks for your feedback Corey !

Bless

JD

Hello Corey, Nice lesson !!

There's many informations in this song ! I try to post a whole version soon. I'm It taking time to learn the whole song and post it, i hope that's a good way to work. It's like preparing a song for a concert ;)

I could post babysteps but my installation is not easy to install so i do like that for the moment.

I have also problem with singin and english prononciation (i'm french) but i like too work in this way. I've even try the song a whole step down for my voice and in Bb like blind blake...

Hope i'll post this week !

best
