I think there is a misprint on the tab. On the riff after the 12th fret it shows going from an open E to the 4th fret..... I think,,, That it should be to the 3rd fret. It could be...

Hi Joe, this is referred to usually as an ascending "box" pattern (hence the title ofthe  tune). Some will refer to it is a Box Shuffle (going up). Thanks!
