Little Walter's My Babe - his best selling record. I'm playing his solo as close as I can. As always, listen to it repeatedly before you try to play it. Certain things are lipped and others are tongue blocked. Switching back and forth and pronouncing the phonetics are important to phrasing. Getting the right notes is just the starting point. See if you can hear those subtleties. Next week I'll give you some clues about some of the technique I employ.

Hi Tommy,

Yeah, because I'm accompanying the singer, I can sometimes play while he's singing if I think it's appropriate though, for the most part, I usually just try to get in and out between the vocal phrases or weave around the singer's voice. When you're the singer, of course, you do that automatically.

Jerry.......That is one of my favotites for sur...Thanks much!!! My only question is cosidering the Walter version where he is singing the vocals and playing the harp; am I, if I plan to do the vocals, just adjust the timing of the harp response accordingly? I just noticed that on some verses, after Mike sings the line, you sometimes come in early with the harp response.......Thanks again....Wonderful lesson....Tommy Hutch
