Four Strong Winds - Uke > Chords and Rhythm

Greetings All Ukulele Players and Good Time People! Here we are again with yet another Social Music classic. This time we’re going to Canada for Ian and Sylvia’s Four Strong Winds, a song I grew up loving and I love it still. We’ll be in the key of G on this one. The song uses the I, IV, and V chords but also the IIm and VIm. In other words, we’ll be playing the G, C, D, Am, and Em chords. This song has an easy relaxed groove which is ideal for both strumming and finger-picking. We’ll look at our options there and talk about creating a sense of dynamics using finger picking on the verses and strumming on the choruses. The chords in this tune are great ones for hammer-ons and pull-offs and there's plenty of space for those embellishments…so get ready!! I hope you find yourself singing this at your next party.

Let me know how it’s going for you!
