Hello My Ukulele Loving Friends and Neighbors,

Here we are with another Lead Belly song and this one has been tailored along the way - a chorus was added at some point in the 70’s which gives it even more social music potential. In this lesson we’re going to work primarily on fingerpicking in the key of D. We’ll also touch on dynamic possibilities as we alternate between strumming and fingerpicking and lastly we’ll get into figuring out a picking style solo using pull-offs. All this in the space of 20 minutes, we’re doing it, friends! It’s fitting for me that we’ll be learning this song now since my new CD, Lead Belly, Baby! Is released today on the Smithsonian Folkways label. You’ll hear some ukulele and a lot of 12 string guitar. It’s on Spotify and all the other usual places.
