Hi Ryan --- thanks for the feedback.  For some of the older songs, we just focused on tabbing the melody.  Over time we realized that people want both --- and that's the way we do it now.

We will update this lesson over the weekend to show the alternating bass.

Hi John --- all of the Swing lessons use Flash --- so they will not work on an iPad / iPhone in case that's the issue.  If not, can you please let me know what type of computer and browser you are using via the Contact Us page and I will work with you to solve it.  Thanks.

Hi Duke --- beautiful tune.  I've always loved this album and the chords and melody on this song are stunning.  As I was listening to this album again, it struck me what great musicians you had on it:  Paul, Scott Hamilton, Sax Gordon, Marty --- sometime we need you to talk about how you bring together such a great team!

Hi Paul --- I love the voicings of these chords.  It's really nice how you hum the melody as you play the run-throughs --- it's beautiful.  I really want to learn how you get that rhythm.  It's fantastic.  Great to have you a part of Sonic Junction.

Hi Jack --- that is some great playing!  I really like your tone too.

Love that chord you punch around 3:15 between the riffs --- is that the Freddie King 13th chord?

Hi Frank --- that was AWESOME.  Love the singing, the Gatemouth licks and then BB'ish riffs.  Made my day, thanks for posting.

Awesome.  I love the groove / feel you guys got going.  I like those double stops around 2:15.

Hi Duke --- I love that final chorus where you do the quiet singing and play the riffs in between.  It really helps me to get the groove and fills.  It's always great to hear you talk about the artistic approach too.  It's priceless. Thanks.

Hi Corey --- great tune!  I'm working on getting the melody down with the thumb.

It's still a bit rough --- but I have the two together.  This lesson really speaks to me because I think I need to work on brushing the bass and the slide nuances --- what do you think?  Thanks for the great lesson.

Hi JD --- sounds great.  I agree with Corey, you have a nice light touch on the slide.  Love the tone too!

Hi Corey,

Great song and lesson.  I'm looking forward to getting that rhythm and bass down.  I've never done anything where I anticipate the beat with my thumb.  It gives the song a certain energy / drive / bounce that is really cool.  Thanks!

Mike

Hi Shawn - great to have you a part of Sonic Junction.  I will tab out the endings Corey plays later today.  If there is one that especially catches your attention, please let me know the timecode so I can be sure and get it.  Thanks.

Hi Duke ... love the tune and your arrangement.  Now that I've learned a couple tunes like this, those chords are coming easier to me which is really exciting.

The chord melody you do with Brad at the beginning is absolutely fantastic.  I'm really excited for the next lesson!!  In the mean time, I'll get the chords flowing naturally.  It will take me a bit on that C#dim7.  Thanks!

Hi Tony ... Wow.  That Tone!!  Love that raw finger sound around 1:50 onward.  It packs a lot of punch!  It's nice how there is a little overdrive / distortion ... but not too much ... so you can here the harmonics / air.

Hi Jeff ... glad you enjoyed it.  The best way for this song is to use the slow downer / looper and learn it by ear.  Althought it may take you a bit more time that tab, learning this way will pay off immensely as you begin to link the sound in your head with the notes on the guitar.  Please note ... Rick sometimes uses a capo.  I mention that as the song is in the Kef of F.

Finally, we now frame the shots of Rick showing his playing hands, so fellow guitar players can get a better idea of how he is playing these tunes.
