@Corey here's my feedback....there's some clack of the slide on the frets but I do like them a lot..I still have to study the train part...in the mean time I threw in a b section which is a kind of citacion of preachin blues (up jumped the devil),though when I play it (the entire song)I don't use alternating base...I tried to put it into the song and it didn'tsound that bad to me...

preaching blues (up jumped the devil)has my fav lyrics talkin abut what blues is...I really find myself in Bob's words...A long time ago the blues took me exacly like that but fortunataly instead of goin to the stillrey I had the guitar and good friends around me..:))

I think my touch on the strings is still dirty but sometimes I like it...anyway in the second part the attempt was to have a lighter touch...maybe even too much because I can hardly hear it..from an opposite to another...but anyway it's very hard...

In the future I'd like to learn from you your version of preachin blues...but you do more like Son House, don't you? There are a lot of interesting things to learn in your interpretaion of the masterpiece...

and thanks for the new camera shot..I can see better how you working with your right hand!

Ciao

Jd...I'm in trouble with melody too..it's hard to memorize...In your playin in general, what I like more is the touch that you have on the bass strings...so nice!!!you will get the melody...it's just a matter of time..

One more question!!??!!?how many guitars do you have,my friend? :DDDD at least 4 plus the electric guitars!! :DD

@Corey...grazie...I'll post a video soon only on the shuffle...I really want to focus on basic things and I've been always interested about learning the shuffle by an afromerican blues musician as it part of his culture!

thanks for sharing

@Corey..here's my feedback....tryin to work on rythm only and put some slide...licks that I used to play in the past executing this tune...I have a question....when you go to the 12th fret with the slide, are you plucking the strings?!?!?!?

Thanks

Alex

Peter this sounds strange to me if you are using 0,13 on your resonator guitar...are you using any kind of fingerpicks!?!?!?

0,13 could be hard in an acoustic but in resonator....boh..I don't know....in proportion 0,13 for a resonator it's like a 0,10 for an acoustic guitar!!!

Corey usually tune his resonator in open E...I don't know which gauge of strings he uses on it....but if he uses 0,16 than it's not a problem of strings...but it could be something else...

Hy Peter...Does this happen with your resonator guitari!?!?!?!?! Strange!!! Which gauge of strings do you use?!?!?!? Me, I usually tune in open D and put a capo on the 2nd fret with my acoustic guitar...0,13 strings...with the parlour I tune directly in open E as I use 0,12 strings....

when I had the resonator I used to put 0,16 D'addario and tune in open D capo 2nd fret but, as it is a resonator guitar, it should be fine even direclty in open E!!!!

@Corey I don't know if it's the microphone ... certainly the fans of the PC does not help us. I can hear much a lower volume. I try to put a little more energy, then.

The parlor compared to the other guitar that you already know (that's cool :D) has a lower action but I do not think that this is the cause of noise you hear ... I still have a lot to work on this ...;)

thanks for the tips on Dark was the night. I try to alternate more.:)

Alex Barbera commented on: Baby Please Don't Go Slide Dynamics & Singing Sep 02, 2013

@Corey..here's my attempt. sorry for the long video. I though to divide it in 3 parts...first just doing scale starting brush the string and then picking so that you can listen the difference of sound, if there is, and where to correct. I think I understood the concept and thanks for sharing the secret..never seen before somebody explain this important difference in the touch of the strings...at least me...I after try to be more dynamic executing some scale and after the instrumental "Dark was the night, Cold was the ground"..what do you think about it? I have tried to pick the strings in different ways...

second part it's me just doing the alternating base and singing and 3rd it's singin and playin

I've got a request if possible....If you for example could you show us how you dampening the strings with your right hand...I quite can see but would be really better if you could show us just putting the guitar oblique with respect to the camera...If you see my hand I have my little finger really straight while yours seems to be bent. I'm asking because I'm not really satisfied about the sound I'm getting and maybe it's because of the way I put my hand on the guitar case.

Thanks for the lesson

@Mike...this is my parlour guitar! ;)))

Alex Barbera commented on: Baby Please Don't Go B Section Aug 24, 2013

@Corey..here's my feedback. I have a request if possible. I thought that could be usefull if you for example ask me to do a video of a part that I should work more on.for example a request of a video  only doin alternating base line without doin the melody or something else...just like we have a lesson in person...we students, I thought, have this tendence to play the whole song without focusing our attention on the things we should work more on....what do you think about it? If you ask me, you would make me only a favour..;)

I throw in some little variations on the b section that I feel fit well in the song...about the melody lines...Should I add more vibrato on the 3rd and 5th fret od the 2nd string?!?!?!

thanks

Alex

I like 0,13, tune in open D and use a capo for open E..and about slide...short ones!! But it's a matter of taste!!! Touch really makes the difference!!! :)) Hope to see a your video soon!!

@Claudio...I copy you and paste an advice that Corey gave me time ago about how to set the action of the guitar...;)

Ciao

Alex

"We used to take a matchbook cover and fold it over on itself and cut it to the size of the nut, and glue it in place (just a little glue not too much) under the nut.  this usually raised the action to the right height.  experiment and see what works for you...."

Grazie Mike!!! To have That good sound on the 2nd string will run me crazy very soon!!! :DDD

the guitar it's the old one...the epiphone el 00...I prefer to use it when I play slide as the gauge of the strings is medium..on the parlour I've got light gauge...but they look very similar...they're both sunburst!!!

Your slide looks very long!!!! Have you tried to use shorter slide?...they're very comfortable!!
