Hi Folks,
This week it's solo time! We go through several ways to approach soloing and I give you many examples of how you can improvise on this progression by playing major scale lines with the accent on the 6th and major 7th also. I also show you how to play bluesy licks and make them sound appropriate in context with the song. There's a lot of information here that can be applied to many basic swing oriented tunes. So this lesson should be helpful in a general sense also.

I will continue to work on the solo. It is a challenge listening for the dimished while soloing. I missed the transition lick into the B section - a senior moment.
Hi Steve, You sound great and I like a few of the different chords you are using in the head. Your soloing is really coming along well. my only advise is to relax a bit more with the tempo. let yourself get loose with the beat. i know when your filming yourself it can be a bit hard. but that's my only critque. you're making good progress! Hey Duke! Still working on this, but I saw something in Facebook that said it was 81 years ago today that Benny Goodman recorded "Stompin' At The Savoy". Wish my Dad was still around so we could talk about it. Benny was one of his favorites. I've got a signed photo from Benny to my Dad. We used to argue about music (often) but I remember being blown away when I was playing one of his Benny 78s and turned it over to the B side that featured Charlie Christian. Here's the image of that signed photo. By the way, I've been listening to "Conversations In Swing Guitar" over and over, and I continue to be more blown away each and every time I listen to it. Wow Bruce, That's so cool! Nice inscription also! man 81 years ago eh? it's funny, The older I get the more I gravitate towards music near the 100 year old make. It was all so fresh back then and truly music that was like nothing else before it! like they say, music has no expiration date......... I'm glad you're digging conversations.
