I Got It Bad > Melody Breakdown

Hi Folks, We are learning the melody to I Got It Bad And That Ain't Good. I play and teach you the melody as its sung which is to be played at the front end of the song. Feel free to embellish on it as put your personal stamp on it once you have learned the actually melody. Try and think like a horn in your phrasing. This kind of mineset is good for playing beautiful melodies. Think about where a horn player would breath also. That is good practice for breaking up you phrases in good places.

Enjoy!

Duke

Hey Duke! In case you saw my previous video, please watch this one too. It's got a bit more coughing ;-) but much better playing. I'd really like to hear what you think. Thanks for the great lesson!

Thanks, Duke! I really appreciate hearing that! I'm getting a little closer all the time to being able to play more of what's in my head. Your lessons have helped me get over hurdles that I've struggled with for years. And I'm having a lot more fun. I've been pleasantly surprised, watching my own videos, to see myself smiling sometimes while I'm playing, rather than looking all nervous and full of self-doubt. I just LOVE to play the guitar! Thank you, Duke. May the watchful eye of Muddy Waters shine upon you. Best, Bruce

Beautiful track, and beautiful guitar - what's the model?

My homework so far has been Duke, Sinatra and Monk, but ears are open for more...

Hi Duke

As suggested, i have listened to many different artist performing this classic. Most everyone sticks to the melody which i prefer.

I couldn't find a version by Les Paul as I embellished a bit with him in mind.

Cheers

Steve
