Hi Duke,

Such a long time since I posted a video to you…Divorcing can be complicated enough sometimes for a good man to do something else…

Anyway, here’s my best effort in CC Rider…I’ve tried to keep it simple  as you said !

Thanks for your appreciation Duke ! My guitar is an Epiphone, model Joe Pass. I love the sound of those archtops...I was playing with a track I made with  band in a box (p,b,drs). Very useful... But I had difficulties to listen to what the piano was doin' ! You saw that! Bye! JM

Hello Jean Michel, Good blues sound there. You are getting the feeling! Especially on your solo. It looks like you are playing an archtop maybe, what guitar is that? Nice bright sound. And what is the piano track you are playing with? Sorry for all the questions! My only advice would be try a bit more to stay with the pianos rhythm. I know it's hard to play with a track but it's very good training. Keep it up! Duke

Hello Jean Michel, Sounds great! I like how you leave some space in between phrases. Too many guitarists want to fill every space. Good job! Duke

Hi Duke,

I tried to put some chords in my chorus, as you said.

...A little sloppy...I could do better. Well, after all, I'm here for that!

Jean Michel,You have a nice blues feel, good phrasing and a great vibrato. You should play along with a track or even a CD to get your timing in sync with your abilities. You sound great but should play along with a track for practice. Also playing with a metronome is a good habit to get into. Keep up the good work, Duke

Dear Duke,

You asked for a video and here’s my best effort! Don’t look at the mess behind me please, my wife already criticize me about it !

It’s  kind of sloppy, I didn’t want to make several videos, just one, or any rehearsals, I just wanted to try to keep the raw energy or JLH…

I wrote down some simple words in five minutes,, at this point of my life, I prefer singing my own lyrics, even if it is a little ridiculous !…

Thanks for your lessons, they’re just great! By the way, if you ever come to France, tell me, I would love to shake your hands!

Hi Duke !

Here's my best effort to play T Bone Shuffle! It's good to make those videos because they really show you where you need to work, where you are still messy and so on...At a certain point, i've been disturbed by my daughter who asked me I dont know what and I said OK (WHAT DID SHE WANT AFTER ALL ? TAKE MY CREDIT CARD ??). The good is that I kept on playin' those T bone licks without stoppin'...

Now I'm workin' on Pee Wee Crayton stuff...

I'am a little ashamed to show you my interpretation of Honky Tonk because I use a capo to play in F...At almost 70, I dont want to ruin my little finger strechin it like you show on your video.....

Bye and thank you for your teachin ! You're as good as a teacher as you are on your guitar !

Bye !

Dear Duke,

As you can see, I was ready to go to bed when I decided to cut this little video...

I was a little tired to cut my teeth and ruin my fingers on this damn "honky tonk" so I did something I was more able to do, a blues in C.

I think I could be a little better but not too much..That's where I am right now...

Thanks for your comment!

By the way, I really appreciate your program! I even enjoy your mistakes, they make you more human !!

Jean Michel commented on: Honky Tonk Lesson 1 Apr 25, 2015

Dear Duke,

First lesson today! I really enjoy the way you explain the stuff...Honky tonk seems to be easy but it's still tricky for me!

I have to be able to play it wednesday, at our next rehearsal ! I 'm not really sure I'll be able...The pain is that our sax player will be rdeady, I know...

First question: are you radically against the use

of a capo to play in F ??? It's so easier for me...

Thanks for your answer!
