Reconsider Baby > Flat Tire Rhythm

Hi Folks,

Here's a new classic blues lesson for you, the incredible Reconsider Baby by Lowell Fulson. This tune is one of my absolute favorites by a true blues giant. This is one of Lowell's greatest and this week we learn the shuffle or "flat tire" intro that is so important to this tune. I teach the best voicings to use and display the way to make it feel correct. This is an important rhythm feel in the blues and something you should all know. I will have a rhythm track for you soon to play along with but in the meantime you can play along with me to get the feel.

See you next week.

Enjoy, Duke

Hi Duke -

This feels better to me. I feel like there's a kind of horse clip-clop clip-clop in the rhythm somehow. :-) What do you think?

Thanks!

Bruce

Hi Ian, That's the ticket, maybe relax the tempo a notch but that's the feel alright. Duke

Hi Bruce, You're very close. Just need to relax it a slight bit more. But very good start. Duke

Hey Duke -

I'm not sure if I'm in the right groove here or not. I feel like my time is a little wobbly, but maybe that's just the effect of being flat tired. :-)

Thanks,
Bruce

Flat tire Fun...

Hi Steve, You should relax the tempo a bit but the second hit is more of an anticipated feel against the relaxed groove. Good start, try watching me do it again and listen for the anticipation every other stroke. Duke
