Just Because > Outro

Hi Friends,

On this, the last lesson for Just Because we work on the outro which is a really fun part of the song. The outro here is what we call a "vamp" in musical jargon. That simply means repeat until a cue is given. This particular vamp is on a "Tequila" chord vamp of Bb6 to Ab6 over and over with a latin rhythm. Its mucho fun to play over, basically playing over a Bb7 chord the whole time.

I think you'll enjoy this one!

Paul, I have a question for you regarding your Loar guitar -- at least I'm pretty sure it's a Loar. If not, then please disregard. ;-)

What model Loar is it? Are you happy with it?  They look beautiful and I keep reading great things about them. They also seem quite (relatively) affordable. I'd kind of like to get a Loar and put a Charlie Christian pickup on it, but I haven't been able to find anyone who has one in stock to try out to see if the neck suits me.

I enjoyed your lesson very much, thanks for it! I should have a video to upload this weekend, and would very much appreciate any feedback from you and Duke.

Best Regards,

Bruce

Thank you Paul, these lessons were definitely a "drink from a fire hose".  There is a lot in each one.

Can you say a bit more about playing the vamp?  I'd like to learn it slow, and then speed up.  Is there a characteristic up and down pattern?  Do you think about it as stroking down on the beat, and up between the beat?  Or something else perhaps?
