great to have a piano player with SonicJuncion! thanks for the start of a great year.
Hi Lizalu! I'm excited that you're happy about the piano! Follow the lessons and let me know in which areas I can help.
ooh I love this song, I have the Lil Green version in my collection but hadn't gotten around to working it out, what a great tune I hear it now. thank for the kickstart. I'll be right back
Hey thanks Duke, this is good fun....still love the way you teach and the tune selection.... got the chords, finding the words, singing over the bass line... working on the leads but that's coming slow. need the slick unwound G string to make that bend all the way without busting my finger.
Heal up that hand!
Thanks mike, for your kind words. Phrasing is everything. i remember listening to a record of Fred Astaire, playing with some jazz greats, after his movie life.... Not a great singer, but an amazing sense of placement and storytelling...
Hey duke, I'm still out here listening and working on stuff. just to prove it here I am playing your chords to Gee Baby. Playing this stuff is not new, nor is the singing, but the lead work is where I need to be. That's next. Thanks, and thanks again for teaching this invisible audience.... we hear you. Lizalu
yeah, the bends were hard to get to the notes you called for, so I just did what i could. bending that far is new to me, so I'm trying to get some grace about it. Kept getting my finger stuck under the strings...gack! just a matter of being prepared positionally. Right? Easy!Question: the melody riff, are we suppose to be able to solo over that? or is that only under the vocals?thanks Duke for your encouragement, I'm having fun - this is the best kind of hard work
ok dammit if I try to get it better it only gets worse. but yeah, what fun, and thanks for the recording option. it makes me get it and not fake it.
OY!! Imma week behind! the backing track is great help... damn but those notes come at a beautiful and relaxed timing. I'll try to get a video when it's... listenable.
awesome awesome awesome awesome. I have been so inspired by your lessons, listening, playing, listening more. I LOVE the background recommendations...stuff I might not find. That Johnny Adams: Body and Fender Man is a totally funky great groove. thanks x million. It's all going into the grab bag of tricks, for gigs, for fun...
