real nice groove - blues hypnosis
hey, this is great claudia & dan. thanks!!!
hey there jay!
thanks for the good words....we had a lot of fun doing this!
was it helpful in some way???
hey Dan, here's a solo part for this great tune. hope you like it. well actually - 2 solos, each one a bit different. i've incorporated some of the ideas you've been teaching.
Jay - cool picking and singing!
i've been away performing and just saw this...really great, man!
i'm going to get my guitar out and take it apart. there's a lot here that i'd like to make sure i can play.
i particularly like the riff you play when you come back to the Dm chord, the one where you slide up 2 frets.
i really appreciate you going deep on this one. your working is paying off in a big way!!
so, a whole sole verse, eh? that's a good challenge, i'm going to work on that and get back to you.
thanks for your feedback, much appreciated.
go for the 2 guitar songs, dan. make it happen, that's where it's at
ok...you'll get it. and harmony singing too....
coming at you, get ready!!
that's crazy dan, great.
i don't want to get too predictable here! social music is wide open...
i hope you get into it!
hey dan, jul 28 i posted a video of this song, and was hoping for your comments.
damn...how did i not get back to you? this is awesome! the rhythm is super solid, the singing is right on too. and i love the licks you put in towards the end. i'd love to hear a whole solo verse with more of those, they really work well!
if i were to offer anything, i'd say hit the hammer ons a little harder so that they really pop out. they can make the guitar come alive and they're already there but i'd say get them so they're really hopping.
i really appreciate this, cousin. again, apologies for the delay!
wow, Dan, that's a really nice solo in a really nice song.
thank you for the good words jay!
this is one of my favorites and definitely an all-purpose social music song....
i hope you get a chance to dig into it!
hey Dan, great tune. the attached tab shows up as will the circle be unbroken, not welcome table. hope you can get someone to fix that.
Hi Jay -- thanks for letting us know. All fixed.
having another go at this song, Dan, it's irresistable.
sounding great, man! it feels nice and steady, no slowing down or speeding up and the strumming is solid.
it feels like you're more inside the song now (and it looks like you've memorized the lyrics, that's a big part of this!). the more you play it the deeper you'll go!
i noticed you added some hammer-ons when you hit some of the bass notes on the G chord. i think you could add even more of those if you're feeling inspired.
thanks for sending this...it's great to see your progress!
back at yoiu with another tune Dan, how're things on the Sonic farm?
wow, great tune, nicely done. and thanks for the suggestion of listening to the anthology of american folk music. it's like a gold mine.
thank you jay! yeah, that collection blew my mind when i first heard it. i was learning to play 5 string banjo at the time and it felt like i was given a pair of wings. in these days of spotify and the rest it's just so easy to get ahold of the music. the human elemant can get lost in the process though. one of my first impressions of sonic junction was that it took electronic media and used it to bring the idea of human connection BACK to the music....so, i'm glad we're all here!
corey, i also did recordings of you've got to change your mind and laughing to keep from crying, if you have a chance to take a look at those....
Ok jay i will check those out thank you
Thanks for the feedback and encouragement. Yeah the singing takes some practise
lots og good singing/performance ideas in the lessons on this song - excellent.
Hi Corey I uploaded 44 Blues a couple of days ago hoping for some feedback when you have a momenT
Thanks for your comments amigo. I'll slow it down and work on the transitions. I see what you mean and it's a good suggestion.
I'm saving space on the wall here for the plaque.
ha!! i hear that....we have to work hard for our plaques these days but as the song says, nice work if you can get it!
keep it up jay, you're solidly on the path.
keep me filled in!
yeah corey, this is a great tune to play. looking for your feedback. thanks.
hi corey, peace. this is a bit rough, but i've got to play it and get it out there. and looking for your advise & feedback, thanks
Hi your guitar playing is solid and you keep good time. I would only suggest that you try brushing your stings with your thumb when playing the bass riff. Also don't be afraid to sing... keep working on it until you find a comfort zone. Good work. Thanks for posting.
hey corey, hope you enjoy this as much as i did
cheers, i look forward to your comments.
yes jay that is it. the guitar playing sounds steady and clear and the singing is good too. all is would say is for you to pay closer attention to your phrasing...it mostly sounds on point but sometimes it sounds like you are lagging behind the guitar a little. Then again this might be what you were going for...it sounds good though. Nice and simple.
