Walking The Dog > Chords and Rhythm

Greetings Family! We're in the groove now. How do I know? Because we're about to learn how to play the Rufus Thomas classic Walking The Dog, that's how I know!! We'll be in the key of A on this one which gives us both high string possibilities and super satisfying low string rhythm options. I can't talk about this song without tipping the hat to Steve Cropper, the guitar player for Booker T. And the MGs. This song came out on Stax Records for which the MGs were the multiracial house band. Steve Cropper was a white dude who'd absorbed both white and black music and helped create a a totally unique and lean R&B Soul sound. One of the outstanding qualities of his playing was the simplicity, for me the other was the excitement. Good combination!! We'll break this down into 2 lessons, take it and make it your own as so many rock and roll groups have done over the years.... Thank you for all of your comments, keep 'em coming!!
