That's Alright > Intro & First Verse

Hello Friends, Weeks lesson is the intro and first verse for one of Chicago blues most classic songs. Jimmy Rogers "That's alright" we start with the classic intro that is similar to many Chicago blues but with a little different twist in the timing of the last chord. Every guitar line in this tune is an absolute classic example of Chicago blues guitar playing at its best.

Enjoy! Duke

I have to discipline myself to come on your site once  a day as I never fail to learn another little nugget to hammer into my tired old brain, thanks Duke

I guess the only thing to do with Swinging the Blues which I"ve also been looking at today is to print off the sheet music and get my fingers around the changes eh?? I understand the 2,5,1 but need to learn the chord fragments so they slide under my fingers easier

Any practice secrets there ?? Watched a guy in Sydney, very accomplished jazz player and he was playing two note chords pretty much the whole time when not soloing

Duke

For years, I have heard this classic Chicago blues intro and never knew how to play it.  This is amazingly detailed and easy to follow. You will not believe how your video lessons have improved my playing and motivation to keep learning.

Alex, I think this style and in particular on acoustic lends itself to just how you approached it.  Soloing is more chord based with a minimum of single note playing, and that even is mixed in with chords, bass runs, etc.  throwing in the licks as you say, and do, here and there.

@ray thanks....I really don't have any idea how to approach to this different style...so the sound should be like a kind of up and down putting the accents where I think they should work more? :)

@Duke....this is just a general attempt tryin to pay respect to the main theme and throwing in some licks that I learned by Corey...I don't know if it's sound good plus I'm not very good in soloing. If you have any suggestion for me It would be really appreciated as I'm not very into about the way to pick the strings, timing in soloing etc!!! thanks for the lesson!! :)
