That Will Never Happen No More > Variations

In this lesson we review the bass line, starting from the intro. I discuss the importance of using variations in the song to highlight the different sections. Finally I demonstrate the picking patterns when moving through the E, a and D chords leading up to the walk down. Take your time and enjoy the song. I look forward to hearing from you.

Corey,

Thanks I know i need just more practice, the song is fast but when you break it down its easier to understand. What easier songs do you recommend .thanks going to see if i join in the near future i'll be following you....

Thanks

Alex

@alex...yes that alternating bass is tough at first.  did i play it too fast in the lesson?  just take it slowly.  isolate the part that is a problem for you and play it over and over again for a few days, very slowly at first and then gradually pick up the speed.  let me know if that worked.

@prone 777...i can help.  what part exactly don't you understand?  am i playing too fast in the lesson?  this is a more difficult tune, so maybe it would help you to start with a more simple song and then work your way slowly towards playing this song after you have learned some easier tunes.  let me know what you think.  thanks.

@alex...please excuse the long delay in getting back to you.  one thing that helps me when playing this tune (other than listening to the original) is to imagine that I am playing the piano and not the guitar.  thats what i dig about blind blake...he made the guitar sound like the piano.  he did this by playing with really good rhythm and by brushing the strings as not digging into them too much.  i think that's how he could play so fast and effortlessly - his touch was light. you are already a very good guitarist, so it is just a matter of listening and practice.  buona fortuna...

how do you do the picking

@Corey.....thanks for feedback..I do have to work more on the bass line..I think it's not only a matter of alternating correctly...I'm looking for that different sound that really makes the day..I'd like to have it more woody and it's not a matter of guitar...I was really happy that you played it not only because for me, as a fan, it was an honour but also this way I could listened where the guitar could arrive...you know what I mean...and in your fingers it sounded different so I haven't got even this excuse!! :))) with another one, a better one, maybe could be easier but the real challenge I think for a musician is to have that real sound with not such a good guitar!!

Wish you all the best and hope to see you here again soon...:)

Un abbraccio

Alex

@Alex...I can see you are still getting it together.  You are on your way...I would suggest doing more listening to the Blind Blake's version.  It seems like you are concentrating too much on the melody at this stage.  Break it down and listen to the bass and build your foundation from there.  Once you really have the bass everything else should fall into place.  I like how you start playing it real slow...keep on pushin.  Thanks for posting and all the best.

@Corey...sorry...I put the wrong option on youtube while uploading :DD..Now It should work...anyway...what's really hard for me is keep the rithm without avoid to alternate when I'm on A...
