So Long

Second Verse Breakdown

Hey, Sonic Junction - Rick Estrin back again with the lesson on verse two of this slow Chicago blues, "So Long". This verse touches on a few of the tools I seem to always emphasize - Once again we're about making apparent sense and "saying something" through repetition, variations on that repetition and strategic departure from that repetition. We're going for tonal, textural and phrasing contrast, and especially this week, we're building tension through the patient and judicious use of space. Relax - It's easier than it sounds in this description!
