Greetings Ukulele Playing Holiday Enthusiasts!

Here we are with my all-time favorite Christmas song, Rise Up Shepherd and Follow, a beautiful call and response number from the African-American tradition. In this lesson we’ll be in the key of D with the !, IV, V, and VII chords. Yes! The VII chord! It’s a beautiful flavor and we’ll look at what makes it special in this tune. We’ll also cook up an instrumental passage for the middle and examine the ways of singing this with a room full of holiday revelers. The holiday season is prime time for ukulele players and I hope that wherever you go this winter you have your ukulele by your side. It’s been a tremendous year with you all here at the Sonic Junction and I hope that you’re all feeling good about the songs we’ve played and the progress you’ve made.
