We found this in the vault:

Rick and me playing an old traditional - "Careless Love." It's got a simple plaintive melody that I stay very close to throughout. It's a simple song to play - just make good sounds come out of the harmonica: clear single notes, light two-hole chords and octaves. We'll talk about that more next week when I delve into the details. Hope you enjoy it!

You're right. Listening to it now, it seems intrusive. In general, play fills between the vocal phrases and stay off the voice, though sometimes you can play something that supports a vocal line without clashing, or you can hold a certain sound underneath.

I love what you and Rick do on this tune. I have the intro, but not up to speed, well ... not up to quality either, but it'll get there.

I notice that when you are playing in back of Rick's singing that it's pretty busy. I am not criticizing at all; I think it sounds great. But how much is too much. Maybe you have some suggestions on what to do to accompany a singer. (I just noticed you have a lesson on accompanying a vocalist, so I'll watch that before I ask any questions.)  Hank Hamilton

I agree! its a beautiful tune and I really liked how Jerry played the harmonica... I would really appreciate it if Ricky could show us how he played the song on the guitar as I would like to play my guitar and harmonica for this song......
