The Stumble > Rhythm

Hi Folks, This week we start on the Freddie King blues classic instrumental The Stumble. It's my favorite Freddie instrumental and lots of fun to play. We are starting as always, with the rhythm guitar and learning the the chords to the unusual but cool changes. Play along with the track to get a feel for the progression and next week we will start on the solo.

Enjoy! Duke

I first learned Hide Away and The Stumble on your superb Hal Leonard DVD.  Back here for more!  Love you man, what a gift to all of us!  Thanks!

Duke,

How did you end the song at the 7:30 mark?  It looks like some kind of dim chord walk up.

I've had to "fake it till you make" too many times on this one. Good to get one of Freddiw's best under your fingers...

Freddie King - bring it on !  Thanks for this hot lesson Duke  -  I figured it was going to be this or HideAway  -  I am a bit partial to HideAway having lived in Austin in the 70's where Stevie played it frequently as a tour-de-force staple in his repetoire  -  but hey, let's get down and Stumble !  in fact, now that we've got a King thing going, it would be neat to whip up a triumvirate offering from the Royal Family, like 'Born Under a Bad Sign' / Albert King, and 'Rock Me Baby' / BB King  -  hot stuff indeed

I really like the loop feature. It helps greatly with learning the idiosyncrating parts of the tune.

I also like that you've taken the time and effort to include links to original and classic versions of the song.

It's also great to hear Duke's thoughts and recollections of seeing the legendary Freddie King perform live. These are valuable insights for any serious player. It's not just about the notes. What's going on in the mind of the performer can sometimes be equally important.

Thanks for a very insightful lesson.
