San Ho Zay

Head

Hi Folks, This week we start a cool new Freddy King instrumental called San-ho-zay. It's a fun little tune to jam on and we will learn all the little eccentricities of Freddy's solo. But to start we learn the basic song head or melody. Lots of string dampening here. So get used to using you palm! This will be a fun tune to learn. The head is simple but after we learn that the solo will be a bit challenging so get ready. Enjoy, Duke

I have a lot of catching up to do. I have been trying to improve the audio of my posts and I hope i have been successful. I had initially recorded this using the bridge pick up and i would definitely use that pickup playing live but defaulted to the neck pick up for this post. Now that I feel my hardware issues have been adequately addressed i look forward to tackling the real issues - the lessons.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Maureen, I would say practice rhythm guitar to  all the songs you know and really think about the changes while doing it. Having the progressions in your head should help you know when you are more naturally. Thank you for that compliment. Jimmy pushed me to take more chorues that night and was one of my idols so I was inspired. My live CD "Stretchin' Out Live" is the set before his. Both of those CDs ary some of my best playing on record. Duke

Thanks Duke - still can't believe this site exists! It's too cool - where else can we go from Charlie Christian to Freddie King? I'm telling everyone I know about Sonic Junction
