In this first lesson we begin learning Special Rider Blues by Skip James. This is one of my favorite tunes to play. When I played for Ali Farka Toure years ago, he was surprised that it wasn't from Mali! Later on in the lesson I will demonstrate how he influenced my playing of this tune. For now, we will focus on the basic beginning riffs. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks.

Hey Corey thank you so much for showing us this one Skip James tunes are so deeply moving, this reminds my so much of Ali Farka Tour'e and that distinctive Mali sounds which feels like a mantra to lonliness and the need to connect with another "special" person. The rhythm is particularly challenging i think, its got a groove you need embed in your bones, like Robert Johnson's grooves but with a very different flavour.So unique, no wonder you have this one in the advanced section.
